I was going to go to the theater earlier today to see the following movie, but just couldn't work up the energy to walk there in the cold. But maybe I'll make it tomorrow. Anyway, here's a preview of the movie I'd planned to see:
So instead I sat and watched videos on my computer or from YouTube. I found a couple of movie parodies that I thought were pretty funny. The first is another of the many, many "Brokeback Mountain" parodies that have been made, but this one seemed to me to be better done than most of them and is rather funny. The person who made it did a good job editing the scenes together.
This is an old one from "Mad TV".
And now, after sitting around like a lazy slug all day, I'm going to go to bed. Because despite having done nothing, I'm still tired. Either I'm getting old or it's the cold, gloomy weather making me this unmotivated to do much. Or a bit of both....
Are we all perhaps linked by invisible bonds? Do the actions of one affect others, even if those others are far away? Our lives and the universe itself may be all part of a single mechanism in which all creatures and events are 'entangled' with one another.

PSP On Patrol
From East London:
Cop on duty gets caught playing PSP
The officer and his colleague were so engrossed in their PSP footie game they did not notice when a passer-by took this photo.
It says this cop was playing a "footie" game, footie being a slang British term for football (or what we call soccer).
My question is...shouldn't he have been playing "Grand Theft Auto"?
At least then he could have said he was using it as a "training tool".

Videos Of The Week
To impeach or not to impeach, that is the question. Listen to what some people think in regards to the impeachment of President Bush and/or Vice President Cheney.
Now I know that newly chosen Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has stated that "impeachment is off the table". My question is why should it be 'off the table'? Have crimes not been committed by the President and Vice-President? Has the statute of limitations run out on those crimes? More importantly, if these crimes are allowed to go unpunished, what is to prevent a future President from committing even greater crimes without fear of being held responsible?
An example must be set--that no President is above the law or the constraints placed upon him/her by the Constitution. Otherwise we no longer have a free democratic system of government, but a dictatorship ruled by one person, unanswerable to no one but him/herself.
I say if that table is too small too accommodate impeachment, maybe it's time we got a larger table!
And think of this, Speaker Pelosi : As third in line of succession, if we impeach and remove from office both Bush and Cheney, you will be the next President of the United States!
Sounds like a pretty good incentive to me !

Smallville's Superteam
Is it just me, or does Smallville have the hottest guys on TV ? The promotional picture above is quite fitting I think, with the hot flames behind the hot guys.
This week's episode, titled "Justice", showed the beginning of the Justice League, with Cyborg, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Impulse, and of course, Superman (Clark Kent). Even though they still aren't calling Clark 'Superman' while the other characters are using their "superhero" names, which I don't understand. But whatever they chose to call them, it's a "superteam" of hot guys! Although I still prefer Clark (Tom Welling) over the others, I wouldn't mind being "rescued" by any one of them.
Here's a little clip of the heroes in action:

My Typical Day
Just sitting here
Typing away
Really don't know
What I want to say.
Was raining here
Part of the day
So stayed inside
On the 'puter I play
Played slots at Pogo.com
Just wasting time....
Even tho I didn't win
Not one thin dime
It's getting pretty late
Should go "hit the hay"
My life's a bore
What can I say
But at least when asleep
In my dreams I can
Fly through the sky
Just like....

Videos Of The Week
Freedom River
This video from 1971 is a parable about the importance of freedom and democracy, and how easily it can be defiled or lost completely if people do not take care to protect it. Even though the cartoon is over 35 years old, it's message is very relevant to events taking place today.
Uncle Sam On The River
This next video (made in 2006) is a modern take on the same theme. Sort of a sequel, you could say, using headlines from recent events to make it's points.

Need More Space?
Is your hard drive getting full? (mine is getting a bit crowded)
Or want to share large files with a friend?
Just need a place to backup some files?
I discovered this great site earlier today that gives you 25 Gigabytes of FREE storage! That's a quarter of the size of my hard drive. It's called MediaMax (it used to be known as Streamload).
I decided to check it out and it works really well. You can upload files there for storage (as backup) or use it to share files with others. If you want to send a file to someone, most email attachments are very limited in size, but you can store larger files at MediaMax for others to download. Videos, photos, music, any kind of file can be stored there. I uploaded some picture files as a test. Files can be organized into various categories/folders for easier access.
All you need to do is an email address and password to register. The email is used to confirm your account. You can upload files to share without setting up an account, but it only takes a minute to set up so I went ahead and got one. I think it would come in handy as a way to backup important files because you can access your account from any computer. This service has been mentioned in PC World, PC Magazine, C|net and others so it seems like a reputable site to me.
Now it may sound like I'm promoting this site (well I guess kinda am) but it's not because I stand to gain anything financially from doing so. I just am always a little surprised (and pleased !) when I come across someone giving away a free service or computer program. It amazes me especially when a person creates a program, whether it be a game or other program and then offers it up as freeware for others to use. I'm not a programmer but I know enough about computer programming to realize it is not that easy to write a program that works well.
Anyway you should check out MediaMax for yourself to see if it may be something you could use. They do have paid accounts as well if you require more storage space, but I think 25 gigs for free is a pretty good deal!
And my mother always told me never to turn down anything that was free.

Made The Switch !
No, I didn't go straight or have a sex-change....it wasn't that kind of switch. I just finally moved to the new Blogger and it was surprisingly easy. Playing it safe, I saved a backup copy of my template to my computer as well as a copy to my email account (as an email draft). Yeah I admit I'm a bit cautious but just wanted to be safe if anything went wrong.
The only problem was my profile pic didn't show up, so I had to edit my profile to put it back. Well, it's not the same one I had but a small version of my Meez I just changed yesterday. Although that may change in the future as I have a hard time deciding what picture to put there to represent me. Would put up a photo of myself but get tired of looking at my own face whenever I check my blog. (Not a big fan of mirrors, either...he he)
Under this new Blogger you can put labels on each entry to make items easier to find. I plan to go back and label my past posts, although that may take some time to finish since there are over 470 posts. I also want to make some changes to the look of the blog but haven't decided exactly what I want yet.
That's about all that's new with me for now, so I leave you with this funny photo I just saw:
And I think my job is bad !

New Way To Search ?
Google, Yahoo, AltaVista, DogPile, all search engines you may have heard of or used. But recently I came upon a different type of search engine, which I thought was rather unique.
At one time you could "Ask Jeeves", but they fired poor Jeeves and now that search engine is just known as "Ask". But now you can ask "Ms. Dewey" and she will try to find the information you request. But be warned, Ms. Dewey can have a bit of an attitude at times and can get impatient if you don't "speak up" and type something so she can show off her searching skills.
Whether or not Ms. Dewey catches on or not is anyone's guess but I think she's pretty cool. The only thing that takes a little getting used to is that the search results appear in a scrolling list to the right of Ms. Dewey, which means you only see a few items at a time.
Pay Ms. Dewey a visit, ask her a few questions, and see what you think of her search abilities.

The Lazy Blogger
Wow, it's been 10 days since I posted anything here. Guess I'm getting really lazy lately. And I shouldn't be because I've been off work since before Christmas, so I should have plenty of energy. But for some reason I just haven't been able to motivate myself to do much of anything but watch TV and surf the web. I always seem to have less energy in the winter anyway--I think it's the cold weather that tires me out. I'm like a cold-blooded lizard...when the temperature goes down, so does my energy level.
Today I had to attend a safe food-handling class at my job, and we have another one tomorrow, then we have a week and a half before we re-open for the Spring semester. Hopefully my energy level will pick up before then.
I want to switch this blog to the new Blogger format and hope to do that this weekend or early next week. Also would like to redesign it a bit. I tried putting up a new top banner, but I can't seem to get rid of the old title (the red lettering). I'll have to figure out how to accomplish that as well. (If anyone knows, let me know what I'm doing wrong.)
I'd probably write more here if my life were more interesting, but there's nothing to report on as far as my personal life goes--just work and sitting at home on the computer. I do want to try to update the blog more often, at least once a day if possible. Most likely I will talk about subjects that interest me and mention web sites that I think are cool. Since really all I do is surf the web during my spare time that's about all I have to write about anyway. But I do come across a LOT of great stuff that I hope others might also be interested in.
Here's one example: I came across this incredible sci-fi/fantasy artwork while using Stumbleupon.com. The artist/creator is
Mathias Verhasselt
Visual Development/Concept Design
or at least that's the only credit I saw on the site.
Check it out...you won't be disappointed.
